17 Jahre lieferten Athen und Sparta einander einen blutigen Krieg. Danach waren beide Mächte zerschlagen. Dieser peloponnesische Krieg (431 bis 404 vor Christus) begann als Präventivkrieg. Auf dem Höhepunkt brach die Pest über das belagerte Athen herein. Der Althistoriker Dr. Mischa Meier von der Universität Bielefeld berichtet.
