Vorfahren eusozialer Insekten (Wespen, Bienen, Ameisen, Termiten) gibt es schon seit mehr als 65 Mio. Jahren. Noch immer dauert die Evolution dieser geheimnisvollen Tiergruppen an. Prof. Dr. Gadagkar (Bangalore) interessiert sich für die Evolution aller dieser Tiere, besonders aber für die der Wespen. Er erforschte insbesondere einen archaischen Wespen-Stamm im Süden und einen “fortschrittlicheren” Stamm im Norden Indiens.
