Wenn in der Geschichte der Menschen Wandervölker und Ackerbauer aufeinandertrafen, gab es Konflikte. Es geht um grundlegende Differenzen im Umgang mit Grenzlinien, Abzäunungen des Landes und einem verschiedenen Begriff des Eigentums. Radikal wird dieses Verhältnis zweier Lebensweisen, wenn Reitervölker wie unter Dschingis Khan Weltteile erobern oder Siedler in den USA die Indianer dezimieren. Diese Differenzen täuschen darüber hinweg, dass die Evolution dieser verschiedenen Gesellschaftsformen nicht nacheinander, sondern miteinander verschränkt erfolgte. So leben in jedem von uns modernen Menschen ein Nomade und ein Sesshafter in Symbiose nebeneinander.
